Why Allen & Company Environmental Services?

Allen & Company is a woman-owned, multi-discipline cleaning, remediation and abatement company whose principals have a combined experience of more than 150 years. 

The seeds of Allen & Company were sown in 1982 when Bob Allen incorporated Abbey Road Clean-Aire, a pioneer in developing safe, effective methods, equipment and chemicals for use in cleaning HVAC systems. Always dedicated to serving his clients in the best way possible, Bob Allen commissioned an independent lab to study the effectiveness of their process.  This ground-breaking study was performed by Mycotech Biological Labs and showed a stunning result of a more than 95% overall reduction in airborne mold and fungi. That study, “Effects of HVAC Sanitation on Fungal Populations in Residential Environments,” was peer reviewed and in 1993 went on to be published in the Annals of Allergy Medicine.

Melinda joined the company in 1991, becoming a full partner in 1998. Ever an innovator, Bob invented and was granted U.S. patents on two video duct cleaning machines, prompting the formation of the new corporation: Video-Aire International, of which Melinda was made president, having become nationally recognized expert on Air Duct Cleaning and Mold in HVAC systems.

In the early 2000’s, the Allens expanded their services to include structural mold remediation, asbestos and lead abatement, as well as HVAC and bio-hazard cleaning.  They also began conducting training nationwide under a separate corporation.  In early 2013 they sold that company and put their energy back into Allen & Company Environmental Services (formerly Video-Aire International), offering vast experience in a variety of services, including:  HVAC and duct cleaning and inspection, mold remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, catastrophe response, bio-hazard clean-up, high structure cleaning and more.

Serving in the environmental industry for more than 24 years, Melinda Allen has worked her way from the ground up, serving as a worker, supervisor, manager, Vice President, and Director of Education & Training at a succession of environmental companies, and now President and majority owner of Allen & Co. She is a licensed Asbestos Abatement Contractor, Certified Mold Remediator and Air Systems Cleaning Specialist.  She is ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) accredited and teaches courses in these disciplines both locally and across the country.  A pioneer in Mold Remediation education, she was a primary creator and instructor in Mold Boot Camps around the US, and testified before the Texas Senate on the need for state licensing and regulation.  Her articles have been published in a variety of industry magazines, including The ACNews, DucTales, Plumbing & Maintenance, Claims magazine and more.  She has long-term associations with and membership in NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association), RIA (Restoration Industry Association), IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association), TAHFM (TX Association of Hospital Facilities Managers), IFMA (International Facility Management Association).  One of the few women considered leaders in this male-dominated industry, Melinda is dedicated to the safety, well-being and professional advancement of her employees and the complete satisfaction of her clients.

Bob Allen - Allen Environmental ServicesBob Allen - Executive VP 

Bob has worked in the Indoor Air Quality industry since 1982, and brings more than 33 years of real-world experience to the table.  Bob is a licensed HVAC contractor, Air Systems Cleaning Specialist, Licensed Pest Control contractor, Certified Mold Remediator and Asbestos Abatement Supervisor/Contractor.  Bob was an original member of NADCA and has served on their board of directors, as a speaker at their yearly conferences and as webinar instructor for their online educational programs.  Ever an innovator, Bob is holder of 2 patents on video air duct cleaning equipment currently in use across the country.


Jason Moore - Allen Environmental ServicesJason Moore - Fort Worth Office 

General Manager
Jason has worked for Bob and Melinda since 1998 and is requested by our returning clients over and over again for his thoroughness, care, attention to detail and professional manner.  Known for getting the job done right and on or ahead of schedule, every time, Jason manages and coordinates our well-trained and experienced supervisors and crews. He is a  motivated and innovative problem solver, a NADCA-certified Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS), is a licensed contractor/supervisor in Mold Remediation, Asbestos Abatement, &Lead Abatement.  He is OSHA certified in disinfection and Bio-Hazard Removal, is OSHA lift and scaffold trained, and has over 22 years of experience in air duct cleaning, hazmat removal, general demolition and disaster response.

Project Manager / Estimator
Tom Ewald, Project Manager, joined Allen & Company in 2016. His duties include managing and estimating asbestos abatement and mold remediation projects that range from commercial retail, office complexes, disaster response, andmulti-family residential housing. Tomis licensed by the state of Texas as an asbestos abatement supervisor, mold remediation contractor, and lead abatement supervisor. His additional training includes First Aid/CPR, 30-hour OSHA safety training, confined space training,and many other construction related training.Tom holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. His hands-on approach to each project exemplifiesour customer first commitment. With over 15 years in the environmental industry, Tom is well-respected by his peers and the governing regulatory agencies.


Randy Timms - Fort Worth Office

Project Manager / Estimator
Randy has been working in the environmental industry since 1998 working in and around large scale commercial and industrial facilities around the United States and internationally as well. Prior to joining the ACES team, Randy was an owner, operational manager, and project manager of other statewide environmental contractors. He has managed and estimated to completion projects for clients at NASA, Johns Manville, Oncor Energy, General Motors, Texas Stadium, Dr. Pepper, and other high-profile projects that require great attention to detail and specifications. Randy is a valued member of the ACES team.


Cole Timms - Fort Worth Office

Project Manager / Estimator
Cole joins ACES bringing his experience as project manager helping and bidding many asbestos abatement and demolition projects in the residential and commercial markets in DFW working with consultants and building owners alike. He has worked on single family teardowns to large commercial projects such as a 1.6 million dollar TXDOT Bridge abatement and a 2.4 million dollar Dallas County Court house abatement.  His diverse background gives him a unique perspective, which makes him a valuable contributing member of both the development and construction teams.


Brian Cizek - Fort Worth Office

Project Manager / Estimator
Brian is an estimator and project manager for public bid and dedicated client projects. He joined the company in May 2019, and has over 23 years of experience in the environmental abatement and indoor air quality contracting industries. Brian has managed turnkey projects, from estimating through successful completion, for some of the leading commercial, industrial, and governmental clients and property owners in the United States. He has exceptional organizational and communication skills, which is an asset when completing projects that often involve multiple layers of owner representatives, consultants, and other contractors. Brian has also designed and implemented value-engineered work plans and procedures for some of the largest and most high-profile infrastructure abatement projects for the transportation sector.


Dan O’Bryan – Houston Office

Dan recently joined Allen & Company Environmental Services as General Manager of our Houston Branch. Dan has 30years experience as Estimator and Project Manager, having managed/overseen a variety of environmental services in commercial/office buildings, multi-family apartments and homes, large manufacturing/industrial/military sites and on major state- and interstate- highway projects.  He is known for completing jobs safely, on time, and on budget, and as a result, Dan has excellent long-term relationships with clients, contractors and area consultants.

Dan is licensed and/or certified in asbestos abatement, mold remediation, lead paint abatement, infection control and general demolition. Dan’s has worked in abatement and environmental contracting in the Houston from 1990, when he was the Vice President and Safety Manager of another demolition and abatement contractor, to the present.

Cheryl Chura brings substantial management experience to her position at Allen & Co.  Accurate state filings, schedule coordination, client communication, and thorough, organized project documentation are all important aspects of her position.
